Don’t let the bed bugs bite.

by Administrator 25. August 2016 08:32

In recent years bed bugs have made resurgence. These small, nocturnal blood-feeding insects can seriously harm your business by upsetting guests. Bed bugs need blood in order to reproduce and complete their life cycle. Bed bug bites usually result in red welts that will itch. The bites themselves are not painful and typically are not felt. Frequent feeding can disrupt peoples sleep patterns. Around 27 agents of human diseases have been found in bed bugs, none of these agents reproduce or multiply within bed bugs, and very few survive for any length of time inside a bed bug.

What do they look like? Adult bed bugs are about ¼ inch long, oval, reddish-brown, and wingless. Their body is very flat, and they possess long, slender legs and antennae. They have a long, segmented proboscis (beak) that extends forward when the bug eats. At rest, the proboscis lies beneath the body and projects backwards between the legs. Immature bed bugs are known either as "larvae" or "nymphs." They resemble the adults, but are smaller and less pigmented.

Bed bugs typically hide during the daytime and are active at night. Because they are flat, they are able to find a wide variety of places to hide. Typical hiding places include beneath loose flooring, behind loose wallpaper, inside box springs or in mattresses, and in upholstered furniture. One common hiding place in hotel rooms is behind bed headboards that are fastened to the wall and another is behind moldings just above the floor. Bed bugs may also hide behind inside appliances. However, sites that have surfaces consisting of plaster, stone, and metal typically do not harbor bed bugs.

Training your staff to check for bed bugs is strongly recommended in order to identify an infestation. A professional pest control company should be contacted immediately if an infestation is found. Bed bugs can usually be found if mattresses show small reddish brown spots. Mattress seams should be examined for brown spots that could be bed bug feces, for shed skins, and for active bed bugs. Cracks and crevices should be checked. Sites to be searched also include behind headboards, furniture seams, draperies, floor moldings, if wallpaper is loose, and behind picture frames and baseboards, especially those located near the beds.

We have a few options to avoid costly treatments such as mattress and box spring covers and sprays that can be found here http://www.goavm.com/bed-bug-protection-c-533.aspx  and http://www.goavm.com/protect-a-bed-c-243.aspx. Our various mattress and box spring encasements provide protection from allowing bed bugs to penetrate and hide in your beds. If you find bed bugs in your property the 707 Bed Bug Spray will destroy them. The products are designed to protect you from infestation possibility. These products will also help you to avoid costly treatments provided by a pest control service. The peace of mind in knowing that you’re protected from bed bugs is something that in the hospitality industry you can’t afford to risk. Your guests will be happy and feel more secure in your hotel knowing that you’re protecting them as well, which will generate you repeat business.

The Hospitality Experience from a Guest’s Perspective.

by Administrator 5. August 2016 10:11

Last week my family and I spent two nights in two different hotel chains on a trip to visit family. Here are some of my thoughts that I had during my stay.

Having worked with these products I have become more familiar with the options and amenities that hotels provide for their guests. Overall I was very pleased with our experience.

The lobby areas and hallways were very clean and tidy in both hotels. They each shared welcoming guest reception counters each had very helpful and pleasant staff. The maid carts http://www.goavm.com/laundry-maid-carts-c-140.aspx  were organized very well and most of the products on them looked new and fresh. Having seen some raggedy looking carts in the past at other hotels it’s very reassuring to a guest to see that the people cleaning your rooms have fresh products to do so. Perception really can make your experience.

One major difference in the two hotels that we stayed at was that one of them had a complimentary continental breakfast bar, while the other had a restaurant/bar inside of the hotel. I have to admit that personally I like the continental breakfast option http://www.goavm.com/food-beverage-c-267.aspx because when you’re on the road, as we were, you wind up eating at a lot of restaurants/fast food throughout the trip. To be able to sit down and have your choice of breakfast included in the cost of your room is fantastic. On the flip side of that the food from the other hotel’s restaurant chef was stellar and provided an awesome experience.

The rooms were satisfactory in both hotels. The bedding & linens http://www.goavm.com/bedding-linen-c-52.aspx were clean and comfortable. In one of the hotel rooms I noticed that the facial tissue http://www.goavm.com/facial-tissue-c-111.aspx was not stocked although there was a slot for it built into the counter. The amenities www.goavm.com/amenity-lines-c-27.aspx  were clearly displayed and of good quality. The particular amenities that these hotels used were higher end and very nice to use.

Since one hotel offered breakfast, they did not have in-room coffee but instead offered it in the lobby. http://www.goavm.com/lobby-c-395.aspx I was also pleasantly surprised to find that this particular hotel offered tea in their lobby as well. The other hotel offered in-room I cup coffee with condiment kits http://www.goavm.com/in-room-c-328.aspx.

In one of the rooms they had a cabinet http://www.goavm.com/room-furniture-c-558.aspx  that the fridge sat in. Consequently my Dad had trouble locating the Fridge until I pointed it out to him. In the other room it was clearly visible.

The final thing that I noticed on our trip was that all of us had smartphones that needed to be charged each night. The first room had enough outlets for us to all charge our phones and laptop while we stayed. The second room did not have enough outlets for us all to charge at the same time without unplugging something from the room. The nightstand recharge program would be a very convenient solution. http://www.goavm.com/accessories-c-679.aspx

We had a very satisfactory experience on our trip. I’d definitely stay in those hotels again. When I asked the front desk where they bought their supplies, they said from AVM. www.goavm.com

by Administrator 13. July 2016 02:43

In an eco-minded world there are a few things that you need to consider when updating your hotels and properties. LED lights not only allow you to save up to 75% on your electric bills, some states will actually send you a rebate for switching to LED lighting on your properties. Saving you money is what AVM wants to do, so let’s talk about how we can do that for YOU!

So what is LED, and what makes it better than traditional bulbs?

Our LED lighting is extremely efficient, using between 40% and 70% less electricity compared to traditional lighting sources. This translates into a significant reduction in your yearly lighting bills. Our LEDs last multiple times longer than incandescent light sources. LEDs emit a steady stream of light without generating excess heat present in incandescent bulbs, resulting in a long and steady operational life. We also offer warranties on our LED lighting.

Let’s take a look at some of the different types of LED lights that we can offer you.

Let’s start with your parking lot; after all it’s usually the first area that your guests will see. From Canopy Lights for under awnings, Flood Lights to make your hotel or property glow, or Parking and Street Lights to guide your guests into your lobby; we carry all of the lighting you’ll ever need for your property to really shine. Check out our outdoor lighting http://www.goavm.com/outdoor-lighting-c-1746.aspx.

From T8 Tubes to replace your fluorescent lights, to Bay Lights for high ceilings, right into LED Panels to replace your tubes altogether, we’ve got the lighting you need to brighten up your place. We also offer retrofitted Downlights that easily install into can light space http://www.goavm.com/wall-and-vanity-lighting-c-631.aspx?pagenum=2. All of your indoor lighting needs can be replaced with LED, putting your hard earned money back into your pocket.

Do you have special areas that you’d like to chain light? From illuminating signs or letters to back lighting artwork check out these RGB controlled Module Lights http://www.goavm.com/led-modules-c-1747.aspx. For module drivers and color controllers you can check out the accessory page http://www.goavm.com/lighting-accessories-c-1758.aspx. Atmosphere goes far with the guest’s perspective. With simple accents you can really Wow your guests and provide them with a lasting experience they won’t soon forget.
